--Satchel Paige There are innumerable facets of fun and enjoyment, arts and culture, gamesmanship and craftsmanship that are woven into the diverse fabric of our community. The interests that residents bring with them to Foulkeways have paved the way for a variety of activities available to all residents. Each week, on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. in the Foulkeways auditorium, residents are treated to an ever-changing venue of high quality music, dance, drama and other forms of entertainment performed by prominent musicians, dancers and other artists. Thanks to the hardworking members of the Foulkeways Residents Association Performing Arts Committee, residents can experience outstanding performances by members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, The Curtis Institute of Music, The Juilliard School, The Temple School of Music, Astral Youth Artists, The Settlement Music School and other well-known sources of excellence. One of 110 committees that make up the Foulkeways Residents Association, the Performing Arts Committee is comprised entirely of resident volunteers who donate countless hours of their time and energy to insure a diverse schedule of performances. Rarely are residents of retirement communities treated to performing arts of this caliber without having to travel to major cities and universities. Strategy and competition combined with a keen eye and countless hours of practice, make Wimbledon (British croquet) one of the favored sports here at Foulkeways. Played year-round, indoors out outdoors, resident players are spirited competitors on their home turf and during tournament play at nearby retirement communities. Whether player or spectator, this is one game not to be missed. Wimbledon not your game?
