Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2026

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, support those affected by breast cancer, and encourage early detection.

• 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime
• About 321,910 women and 2,670 men will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in 2026, along with approximately 60,000 non-invasive (in situ) cases.
• 66% of breast cancers are diagnosed early, when the 5-year survival rate is 99%
• More than 4 million breast cancer survivors live in the United States today.
• On average, a woman in the U.S. is diagnosed with breast cancer every two minutes.

Early Detection Saves Lives

Regular screenings, including mammograms, help detect breast cancer early when treatment is most effective. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, consider scheduling a screening and encouraging loved ones to do the same.
