Foulkeways at Gwynedd was the first Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in Pennsylvania and the first Quaker CCRC in the United States when we opened our doors in 1967. With over 50-years serving the aging population, we continue to reflect the Quaker ideals of friendship, dignity and respect for all our residents and diverse staff.
As the senior living industry has evolved, communities have taken an active role in changing the perception of retirement living. The first step was renaming Continuing Care Retirement Community to a Life Plan Community to better align with the overall healthcare model and perception. This model includes more than one level of care on location, a well-rounded active lifestyle and caring for and about the greater community. You may hear these names used interchangeably, but they mean the same.
