All residents, staff, and visitors must wear masks per CDC guidelines. Masks are required. Thank you for your cooperation.

Abington House (AH) and Gwynedd House (GH) COVID Update for January 28, 2021.

After the meeting of the Infection Control Committee (ICC) on January 27, 2021, and review of the ICC recommendations by the Medical Director, Carl Wenzel MD, on January 28, 2021 the following changes will take effect in AH and GH. These changes are also based on the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH), Department of Human Services (DHS), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and Center for Disease Control (CDC) COVID recommendations and requirements.

Visiting

  • GH and AH Resident Foulkeways spouses and significant others who have received their second Pfizer vaccine 7 days ago can visit beginning on January 29, 2021. Visiting will be limited to daily visits, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 2:00 – 5:00 PM, to avoid mealtimes. Visiting will be allowed in Resident rooms/apartments or outside, weather permitting.
  • Foulkeways Residential Living Residents who have received their second Pfizer vaccine can visit AH/GH Residents beginning on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Visiting will be limited to daily visits, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 2:00 – 5:00 PM, to avoid mealtimes. Visiting will be allowed in Resident rooms/apartments or outside, weather permitting. Only 2 visitors at a time will be allowed.
  • GH and AH Resident Families and friends outside Foulkeways can begin visiting on Monday, February 15, 2021. Visiting will be limited to daily visits, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 2:00 – 5:00 PM, to avoid mealtimes. Visiting will be allowed in Resident rooms/apartments or outside, weather permitting. All visitors will be encouraged to use apartment bathrooms vs. those in common areas. Only 2 visitors at a time will be allowed.
  • All visitors listed above will be expected to wear masks, wash hands, and physically distance. Prior to visiting a GH or AH Resident, visitors will attest in writing to the following:
    • I attest that I have NO symptoms of sudden illness (such as fever OR cough OR shortness of breath OR loss of smell/taste including gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea OR vomiting OR diarrhea) with or without fever of 100 or higher
    • I have not been in close contact (less than 6 feet for 15 minutes) with anyone with COVID or COVID-like symptoms in the last 14 days that I am aware of
    • I have quarantined for 14 days or tested negative in the past 72 hours if I traveled outside the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    • I have not been placed in COVID isolation or quarantine at this time
  • All Visitors will enter the AH/GH buildings through the GH Main Entrance and sign this attestation at the Main Lobby desk.
  • Please call ahead to make sure there are only 2 visitors at a time in each Residents’ apartment. If you find there are already visitors in an apartment, wait in your car until you can enter.
  • If you are visiting from outside the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the quarantine and COVID testing issued by the Secretary of Health’s Order is still in effect, we can help meet these guidelines.

Please follow these cautious visitor guidelines in order to insure safety and respect for all Residents and staff.

Socialization

  • AH and GH Residents will begin to congregate dining and activities next week, the first week of February.
  • AH and GH Residents will not be quarantined after visiting with their family in their home. COVID precautions will be reviewed with families before visiting.
  • AH and GH Residents will be able to use the AH Library and the Community Center, including the Ambler Bank.
  • The Fitness Studio has been set up with Fitness equipment for AH/GH Resident use, under the supervision of Fitness staff, instead of AH 99.

With all this good news, we need to remind everyone with an “outbreak” of one COVID case, GH and AH will have to once again return to COVID isolation for at least 2 weeks.

Residential Living Residents

  • The Fitness Center will open on February 15, 2021, by appointment with the Fitness staff. Capacity will be safely expanded. COVID precautions such as appropriate mask-wearing will continue. The pool will reopen for use in March when construction is complete.
  • The Fitness staff will resume fitness classes in the auditorium the week of February 15, 2021. These classes include Balance, Core Basics, and Class Action.
  • The satellite Library, Gift Shop, and Haircrafters will remain open until further notice. The Pharmacy contacts will continue to be supported by phone rather than in person until further notice.
